Frequently Asked Questions

Below you’ll find answers to the questions we’re most often asked about our firm and our work.

Business Model

What is a Family Office?

In its truest form, a family office serves as your single point of contact, sitting at the center of your family’s financial world. We apply experience and oversight so advisors, strategies, and decisions work together while delivering customized advice and personalized service that align with your goals, values, and needs.

How are you different from a bank or traditional trust company?

At ArchBridge, we don’t have any propriety financial products, we aren’t limited in the scope of our services by corporate parameters, and we don’t work on commission. Free from conflicts of interest, we are able to provide a truly holistic view of our client’s financial situation. Our only priority is your family’s success.

Since you are a “trust company” – are you required to act as trustee?

We are not required to act as trustee. Currently we only serve as trustee on approximately 25% of the total assets we oversee. In most other situations, we use our fiduciary expertise to assist our clients who often serve as trustees for their family trusts.

How are you compensated?

We charge our clients one advisory fee for all investment management and family office services. The fee can be either a fixed annual dollar amount or an amount based on a percentage of asset values. The only additional fees arise from corporate trustee services and comprehensive bill payment services. We neither accept nor pay commissions of any type.

What type of families do you work with (i.e. how do I know if my family is a fit)?

We work with wealthy families with complex financial affairs. Within those families, we serve multiple generations of family members and the entities they have established, including trusts, charitable foundations, donor-advised funds, LLCs and FLPs, corporations and the like.

My family’s assets will (hopefully) last for many, many years – what assurance can you give me that you will be around?

At its founding, our Company was structured for longevity with majority ownership by multi-generational client families and an independent board of directors. Further, we purposefully maintain a pipeline of talented professionals to ensure clients are well-served over time and generations.

Client Service Model

Who will work with my family?

We utilize a team structure to best serve our client families. Our client teams are comprised of skilled individuals with varying backgrounds and areas of expertise (attorneys, CPAs, CFAs, etc). Each team member is chosen specifically for your family’s goals, needs, and values. Every team will meet with you regularly, along with an operations and support staff behind the scenes.

How do you work with my other advisors?

We work together with your other advisors to collectively develop and implement strategies aligned with your goals. We do not replace these advisors. Instead, we provide them with a complete picture of your financial affairs and supply the information needed to yield the most appropriate advice.

Where are your clients located?

We are located in St. Louis, MO but serve families across the United States. In fact, over half of our client families reside outside of St. Louis. Distance is no barrier and our professionals often travel (at our expense) to meet with clients wherever they may be. Our highest client populations are in Missouri, California, Illinois, Florida, and New York.

You say you are “independent” – why is that important to me?

Having no products to sell affords us the freedom to objectively analyze any financial transaction or planning strategy to recommend the best possible outcome for you. We can truly view things from your perspective and in your best interests.

Investments

What investment management resources do you have?

ArchBridge serves as your family’s Chief Investment Officer. Our internal investment team — all CFA Charter holders — leads every aspect of portfolio construction, manager selection, due diligence, ongoing oversight, and consolidated reporting across every custodian where your assets reside. We extend that capability with two specialized external partners: a sourcing and diligence partner who supports us in select private-market situations, and a values-aligned investing consultant who supports our work for clients pursuing socially responsible, ESG, and impact strategies. The result is institutional-grade access and oversight, delivered without the constraints of a proprietary product platform.

I have a relationship with an investment professional that I would like to maintain. How do you work with them?

Most families come to us with established investment relationships, and we do not require you to consolidate assets with ArchBridge. When you choose to retain an existing broker or manager — for relational, tax, or strategic reasons — we incorporate those holdings into your overall portfolio strategy and coordinate with that professional on an ongoing basis. We aggregate data from every custodian into a single consolidated view of your net worth, evaluate each retained relationship with the same discipline we apply to managers we engage directly, and ensure execution stays aligned with your family’s objectives.

How do you evaluate private business deals or other investments that might interest me?

Every private opportunity is reviewed by our Investment Committee through a structured due diligence process that weighs the deal’s standalone merits — strategy, terms, sponsor quality, fees, liquidity, and tax treatment — against your family’s risk tolerance, strategic allocation, liquidity needs, and other opportunities available to you. For a deeper view of our philosophy on private investing, see our white paper: Investing in Private Companies.

What are the primary strategies employed by the firm for adding value to clients’ portfolios?

We focus on the levers that consistently drive long-term, after-tax results: evidence-based discipline, tax awareness, cost discipline, true open architecture, and behavioral coaching. These principles are explored further in our Insights library, including John Jennings’s Investors, Don’t Succumb to the Fear of Missing Out.

Do you help clients with values-based investing (SRI, ESG, impact, etc)?

Yes. For families who want their portfolios to reflect their values, we partner with a leading impact investing consultant to provide thematic research, manager due diligence, and tailored solutions across socially responsible, ESG, and impact strategies. We work with you to define what “values-aligned” means for your family and integrate those preferences into the broader portfolio without compromising our overall investment discipline.
